Design Concept: Vintage Blush

vintageblushHello there everybody, happy Wednesday! We thought a Design Concept was long overdue so here you go, something with a little sophistication for this cloudy Wednesday morning.

Classic and elegant with a twist of quirky bohemian vintage we love this board’s muted palette of barely-there blush colours, creating a concept that is quiet and retiring yet powerfully classic and elegant. We like the idea of collecting vintage style object and trinkets to use for table centers, each one being slightly different and adding to the bohemian feel of the day.

Design Concept: Aqua and Red

aquared

There’s something about the brave combination of these two colours that brings me great joy. Something to do with how the ice blue cools the heat of that cherry red creating a kitsch, retro look.

From my excursions around the web, it seems like this palette is much more popular over in the States and I have to admit that there is something about this concept that makes me want to go and eat an ice cream sundae in a 1950s diner and pretend I’m a character in Happy Days!

I Heart: Sweet Pea Flowers

We’re always on the look out for talented new suppliers so when Marianne at Sweet Pea contacted us to ask whether we’d like to come and see her portfolio, we jumped at the chance. Just like us, Marianne is passionate about stylish and unique weddings and we just love her soft, feminine style and how she uses texture to such great effect. Her designs look good enough to eat!

For Mother’s Day Sweet Pea are holding two flower arranging classes, perfect if you’re looking to do something with your mum that’s a little bit different. The classes are taking place at the fabulous Seven Dials in Covent Garden, London and are great value at £50 per person.  Each workshop will cover essential flower arranging tips and also give you the chance to create a beautiful spring arrangement.  The session will then finish up with tea and cake, my favourite! Contact Sweet Pea to find our more or to book your place.

Claus Porto Vintage Favours

Whilst over in Portugal recently, I saw these gorgeous Claus Porto soaps and surprise, surprise was immediately thinking how they’d make great favours. Packaged in beautiful vintage style paper, complete with wax seals and smelling heavenly, these little beauties would look so pretty at each place setting and wouldn’t the ladies be thrilled! Although the website only lists the 150g version the company definitely do miniature versions (think 5cm tall) which might prove a more budget friendly option.

Real Wedding: Mellissa and Scott

The last few shots from this beautiful vintage themed wedding:

There were some seriously stylish guests at this wedding (just the shoes were amazing) but this lady; the makeup artist, wins. She looked stunning and fitted in perfectly with the vintage theme.

Perfect finishing shot:

Thank you so much to Paul for these fabulous images. Go check out Paul’s site for more serious eye candy.

Real Wedding: Mellissa and Scott – 1950s Vintage

The wedding was inspired by the oh-so-glamorous 1950s; beautiful gold edged china, vintage cake stands, scones and clotted cream. Delicious!

Those flowergirls were too cute for words. Their dresses were handmade by Natalie and her mum. I love this next shot, it could be straight out of a real 1950s wedding.

Real Wedding: Mellissa and Scott – The Preparations

I was so lucky to working with the immensely talented Paul White over the weekend. These magazine-worthy images are just SO beautiful and capture the spirit of the wedding perfectly.

Our beautiful bride Mellissa:

Can you imagine just how excited I was about these shoes, real Louboutins – they were amazing.

It was a real privilege to work with Mellissa and Natalie, they’re sisters and very much best friends too. They made me wish I had a sister!

I am a lot in love with this image:
