Design Concept: Yellow Submarine

blueandyellow

A few of weeks ago in a moment of inspiration block, I saw this gorgeous wedding over on Once Wed and was reinspired by the mouthwatering combination of zingy yellow and cool aquamarine. I’m convinced that yellow is going to be a hot wedding trend over the next year or so as it seems that everywhere I look right now couples are using it to great effect in their colour palettes.

I see this board being for a cool, modern couple who want a quirky, fun wedding in an urban space. I’m imagining structural floral arrangements, bespoke cocktails, a cage veil, smokin’ lipstick and a phenomenal live band who keep guests on their feet until the wee hours.

Design Concept: Dove Grey and Sunshine Yellow

We’ve featured lots of quite traditional boards recently so I thought it was about time for a chic, modern look that would work well in a city venue where outside space isn’t always a given.

greyyellow1I love, love, love grey and am constantly amazed by what a flexible accent colour it makes. Here, by teaming grey with this cheery sunshine yellow the overall look is clean, minimal and quirky.

I see this wedding taking place in an unconventional, city center space that isn’t a typical wedding venue; where different areas can be created for different parts of the day and guests can seamlessly walk from one area to another. I think this wedding would be lots of fun to attend with lots of quirky touches, a photo booth, a candy bar and little regard for ‘normal’ wedding traditions.

Design Concept: Spring has Sprung!

pinkyellowspring

Spring is hands down my favourite season. This morning I woke to sunshine streaming through the window and it felt very much like Spring had at last, sprung. Perfect timing for this cheery, happy-go-lucky board. Happy March!

Effortlessly Elegant Bridesmaids

I adore the bridesmaid’s dresses from this wedding featured over at SMP last week. Letting your girls choose different dresses within a colour palette is a great way of achieving happy, confident and therefore extra-beautiful bridesmaids.

Design Concept: Everything’s Just Peachy

peachyAfter my declaration that peach is back, I thought I’d better supply some evidence.

Even if I do say so myself, I’m slightly in love with this board. Like the last couple, it’s slightly dreamy but rather than being designed specifically for Spring, this board is just perfect for Summer.

For the details I’d choose a replica of that stunning MS bouquet, using honeysuckle and actual peaches for the larger displays. For the tables I’d tie name tags to ripe peaches and position at each place setting, whilst welcome drinks would be Bellinis and favours would just have to be (and sorry if this is just a bit too obvious but it’s too good to miss,) peach jam.

So there you have it, proof that peach is super chic and no longer bannished to the decade that fashion forgot!

Design Concept: Pink, Purple and Sunshine Yellow

It’s been a while since the last design concept appeared here and as the weeks have sped by the weather outside is slowly changing. Despite the gorgeous sunshine last weekend, the nights are slowly edging their way in and there’s no denying that autumn is on its way. It seemed only right therefore to stretch the summer time out as far as possible with a bright and vibrant design concept.

So here it is, a feel good, Indian summer style concept. First of all I just love the combination of fuchsia pink and Cadbury’s purple and the addition of sunshine yellow adds a new dimension to this full proof combo. I also love, love, love maids’ dresses in different colours, it’s a great way to add interest and bring out the different personalities of your best ladies. Finally, the invitation from Ceci New York is just stunning and the idea of walking through that yellow forest floor is well…heavenly.

Design Concept: Ice Cream Sundae

My lovely mum came up with the initial idea for this concept & I don’t think I’m going to say much more about it! I’m thinking a Neapolitan icecream colour palette, a retro ice cream van & a ‘candy bar’ with lots of swirly lollipops for the reception!

Design Concept: Navy Blue and Egg Yolk Yellow

We’ve got lots of exciting things to blog about this week but to start things off I think it’s about time for a new Design Concept. So voila!

navyyellow

I’ve had the colour palette for this concept for a while now but it’s only in the last week that I’ve come across the photos to complete the board. I really can’t get enough of navy blue at the moment and I just love how fresh it looks when teamed with the sunny yellows. This concept has French, preppy feel and I’m imagining bold patterns, golden sunshine and maybe freshly squeezed orange juice cocktails? Perhaps miniature pan au chocolat at midnight?
I chose white peonies and yellow ranunculus for flowers as I think their fluffy texture is a great balance for the crisp lines of the stationery and the beautiful Oscar de le Renta gown. I think the gown is stunning but more about that later this week….
