Blogosphere

A couple of exciting things happening around the blogosphere yesterday:

1) Wedchicks. We were so excited (and so honored) to be featured over at the super-cool Wedding Chicks. Amy and Jocey are super beautiful and super-talented and it's so cool to be featured on their blog. Check the post out here and if you don't already, add Wedding Chicks to your reader.

2) Secondly Hello!Lucky posted on the highs and lows of being a self employed entrepraneur. This post is good it had me clapping and shouting "Amen sister". I echo all of their points and it was nice to be reminded that other people feel the same in this self-employed-wedding-industry-boat too!

Rebrand

If you're on the button (or if you don't read this blog via an email or reader) you might have noticed that over the weekend we launched our rebranded website and blog. The new look is clean, contemporary and much less 'pretty' than before. The blog is now very simple and perhaps even a little stark and but I really wanted a blank canvass to display the design boards as opposed to the previous layout which I felt was sometimes a little bit distracting. It's a big change and we're quite nervous seeing as so many people commented on how much they liked our previous branding and website but change is good and we're excited about the next phase in our business. So we hope you like it but if you don't and you can't stand the look of it maybe think about subscribing to the blog in a reader!!

Happy Wednesday (Wednesday already?? Eek)!!!

What's New Pussy Cat?

We're undergoing a bit of a re-brand over here & today our sparkly new business cards arrived. New website (& redesigned blog) coming any day now. How very exciting!

We're also super excited to be featured in the News section of Wedding Magazine.co.uk which is doubly nice because we're also in the current edition of the magazine. So hello if you've made your way here via the magazine or website. Lovely to have you!

Fake Enquiries: All Hail Kings Larry

Most weeks I receive several fake enquiries. Which is annoying. Very annoying. If all of these enquiries were real, WBZL would need a staff of about 10 people and our bid for world domination would be very much in full flow!

Anyway, yesterday I received one such enquiry from ‘Kings Larry’ (sensational name btw Larry, maybe next time go for something a little less conspicuous) that was just so priceless I thought it only fair to share it with you dear readers. So here is an excerpt:

"I am getting married on June 16 2008, in Westharm uk. But i dnt know if you will be able to help me plan the wedding seen am in the States and my Luv is in Canada."

Now Larry, besides the fact that there is nowhere in the UK called Westharm (research is the key my dear Larry) I have to say that expecting me to plan an entire wedding in 13 days is a little extreme. However you really did seal your fate with:

"attaching a preview of my wife so that you can know whats going to fit her".

Brilliant, quite simply brilliant. Thank you Kings Larry for filling the office with boisterous laughter on an otherwise quiet Tuesday afternoon.

Four Weddings and a Feud

If you were watching BBC breakfast news yesterday morning and you were watching carefully, you might have spotted me! It was my second visit to the studios and this time I was commenting on why, according to Debenhams, 1 in 4 weddings end in some sort of feud. Although I’m sure a bit of artistic license has been used to exaggerate the results into a story, I’m not at all surprised that 25% of brides row with their bridesmaids or that 1 in 10 weddings were blighted by drunken behaviour.

What do you think? Ever been to a wedding that resulted in a row? Fallen out with a bridesmaid? Ever noticed a guest trying to upstage the bride or heard an offensive speech? Let me know your horror stories!

The Glamorous Life of a Wedding Planner

Although being a wedding planner isn’t as glamorous as people always think, a couple of weeks ago I was very excited to appear on BBC breakfast news talking about the changes the Anglican Church are making to the laws surrounding where you can get married. It was a very early start (3.45am!) but a great, if not nerve-wracking experience! Bill and Sian were very lovely as was the floor manager Peter. I was very surprised by how low-key the whole setup is; the studio is much smaller than it appears and there was only one camera lady in the whole studio!
We’re all for the changes in the law which see the Anglican Church recognising that parish boundaries are an outdated concept when it comes to tying the knot.

Introductions...

Hello there, welcome to our new blog. Thanks for stopping by. We’re Weddings by Zoë Lingard, a wedding planning company creating beautiful, bespoke weddings throughout London and the Southeast of England. At Weddings by Zoë Lingard we’re crazy for creative and unique weddings that are all about the personalities of the bride and groom and we love to leave a wedding feeling like we know the bride and groom a little better. We’re fascinated by the American wedding industry which seems to have so much to offer couples by way of both design and opportunity compared to the British one.

We created this blog to showcase some of our recent work and also to provide creative inspiration for British brides who are looking to create a beautiful, unique, design-led wedding. We’ll be posting design boards and colour palettes, planning tricks, real weddings and anything else that’s pretty and catches our eye.

Thanks for reading, we hope you’ll enjoy!

P.S. If you’d like to submit a real wedding, a dilemma or if you’re an outstanding supplier please contact us.
